Sporty Christmas gift ideas over £60
We know that it can be hard to find sporty Christmas presents for children who seem to have all the kit but we can help!
These gifts are that bit ‘extra’ but the look on their faces will be worth it!
For the sharpshooter - Netball post
A mainstay of school PE lessons, why not let your child perfect shooting skills with their own netball post? Believe it or not, this won’t take long to put together on Christmas morning and it doesn’t take up much space – great for any size garden! A little gift for under the Christmas tree – a netball
Christmas wrapping idea – If you want to have it all ready on Christmas day you could wrap tinsel around the post and hoop. Why not hang some (unbreakable!) baubles off the hoop too?For the cricket-mad kid - Cricket bowling machine
Year after year, this cricket ball bowling machine continues to be one of our most popular Christmas gift items. Schools, cricket clubs and back garden cricket fans are using this bowling machine to increase their cricketing agility and batting technique – the Paceman 176 XT can swing or spin the ball so it really does keep your cricketer on their toes. Set it up away from the house to avoid broken windows or I recommend a cricket net. The pace of the ball is variable so everyone can have a go.
A little gift for under the Christmas tree – Swinga ball
Christmas wrapping idea – you can set the machine up ahead of time but I don’t recommend leaving it out overnight. Tinsel around the machine is perfect and if you buy a cricket net, you could decorate that with Christmas lights!
For the 'energetic elf' - Crazy Catch
The Crazy Catch is crazy versatile and can be used for sport or just as an activity. It can improve fitness as well as hand-eye coordination.
It is a tightly stretched rebound net which will have your kids leaping and bounding all over the place as they try to catch balls. Whilst using it is fun, it is a serious piece of kit and used in many sports to improve reaction times and agility. It would be great for cricket, rugby, flag football and for goalkeepers in football.
There are several models on the Little Big Sports website but I love this one as it has two different sides – one is predictable and the other is called ‘insane’ as it could be bounce off anywhere!
A little gift for under the Christmas tree – goalkeeper gloves
Christmas wrapping idea – to be prepared for some Christmas Crazy Catch, if you have the time and patience (or perhaps it could be a Christmas job for a little elf somewhere!), you could weave tinsel through the Crazy Catch net! Just around the outside frame would look good too.
For the 'I love all sports!' child - the Multi-Sports package
This Multi Sport gift allows your sporty child to try lots of sports in the comfort of the back garden – and let me remind you that most successful sports men and women tried many activities as children.
Tennis ✅
Badminton ✅
Volleyball ✅
Limbo dancing ✅
Made-up sports which let kids show off their creative side ✅
This kit comes with a net, mini tennis rackets, badminton rackets, balls, and shuttlecocks. It’s adjustable and packs up nicely when it’s not in use.
A little gift for under the Christmas tree – Shuffle Up!
Christmas wrapping idea – why not wrap up all the parts (there are quite a few!) and hide them around the house?
For the rugby fan - Rugby Post
A rugby post for the garden may sound ambitious but it is achievable with this Samba rugby post. The rugby posts won’t ruin your lawn, they’re lightweight and also robust.
This would be an amazing Christmas surprise!
A little gift for under the Christmas tree – Kicking tee
Christmas wrapping idea – if this gift is too big for under your Christmas tree, put them up the night before and wrap outdoor lights along the horizontal section, and tinsel wrapped around the vertical parts, as high as you can reach!
For the basketball fan shooting hoops - Basketball System
Basketball is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK and it’s easy to see why. Fast paced and end to end, it’s exciting to watch!
You can help your child become the next Magic Johnson or Caitlin Clark with one of these basketball systems, complete with sturdy base and backboard. These are very popular in the United States and are sure to become back garden staples here too. A great investment that’s durable and fun!
